The Old Dominion
Kennel Club of Northern Virginia, Inc. (ODKC)
is a not-for-profit club founded in the 1930s to protect and advance
the best interests of all breeds of pure-bred dogs and responsible dog
ownership in the Northern Virginia area.
Although we hold two all-breed AKC licensed
shows and obedience trials annually, we offer much more for the breeder,
exhibitor, or anyone else who really loves dogs. The Club is a member
of the American Kennel Club (AKC), the Virginia Federation of Dog Clubs
& Breeders, Inc., and the American Dog Owners Association.
Our annual all-breed AKC licensed shows,
usually held the latter part of April and September, have dogs exhibited
in both conformation and obedience classes. This is a chance to come
and cheer for your favorite breed, become more familiar with other breeds,
talk to breeders, and meet members of the Club.
We also hold an AKC-sanctioned match
in February, which gives exhibitors a chance to polish their skills
and introduce new dogs to the excitement of the show ring.
ODKC provides dog lovers of registered
breeds a comfortable environment for learning, competing, and growing
in their chosen breed(s). We certainly welcome volunteer participation
for anyone who wants to learn about shows or the organization in general!
