ODKC Public Services -
Giving Back to the Community
Our Club donates dog-oriented books to
the area public libraries. We participate in fund-raising activities,
and dog demonstrations for interested groups. ODKC distributes funds
to aid in the education, protection, legislation, and promotion of pure-bred
dogs and their environment.
Scholarships
and Grants
Each year the membership of ODKC donates
a $1,500 scholarship to a Senior veterinary student at Virginia-Maryland
Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.
The Veterinary Technology Program
at the Northern Virginia Community College, Loudoun Campus, receives
$1,500 for purchasing needed equipment.
A $1,000 scholarship is awarded to
a communications student, as selected by the Dog Writers Association,
in the name of Mrs. George H. (Bobbee) Roos, in memory of her contribution
to Old Dominion and pure-bred dogs.
The proceeds of our match are donated
to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.
